Subject: TWL: Raw Water impeller

To the many thoughtful replys to my message on removing the raw water
impeller on the Cat 3208.
Various tools, (screwdriver, right angle pliers, Vice Grips ,etc ) would not
budge the impeller -stuck on the shaft. I ordered a Jabsco Impeller Removal
Tool, ( Part # 50070-0200), which, would fit on only ONE way, pulled the
imeller out with ease !!! There was a hose clamp which someone had
installed such that the worm drive was in the only spot that prevented
complete removal of the impeller. I immediately rotated the hose clamp so
it won't be in the way next time. And I also applied Never Sieze on the
shaft. Job done. The new impellors have an endplate with a 3/4" hole in
which you screw a bolt that extracts the impeller.
Thanx for all the suggestions. It certainly saved removing the pump and
having to reinstall the v-belt !!!
