TWL: time interval between filter cleanings

My double racor 500 system is doign great in my boat.
I like it and gives me some comfort knowing I have a
second filter at the flip of a switch. One thing I do
have question with though is what is a good average
time interval to clean and purge the filter? I wonder
this as it has been running 50-60 hours and the filter
appears quite dark and dirty. I have 10 micron
elements in there. The boat also sat for quite a bit
of time, at least a year, before I bought it. Im
wondering if the initial tank or two of fuel is goign
to be especially filthy or does it seem like I have
more of a problem here? What do others experience as
time intervals. I dont care can be racor, or other
brand filters??
