We have an automatic Electro-Guard system. We had a similar problem as
yours quite a few years back. Turns out it was a boat in the next slip.
Since you did like we did (disconnected the shore supply, removed the
battery cables, etc.) if you are in your regular slip and had no problems
before, I would think perhaps there might be a new boat in your neighborhood
that is causing the problem. As I recall, we got the port to check the
boats around us and, when the transient boat next to us left, the problem
was solved.
We also hang a sacrificial zinc over the side (like we used to do on the
sailboat where we did not have Electro-Guard.)
PS - You are correct that the company is not amenable to
do-it-yourselfers. We had to go over to Seattle to a manufacturer's rep to
have ours adjusted.
