Garrett, one suggestion- to prevent the metal insert in the impeller
from seizing on the pump shaft due to corrosion, and to make it MUCH easier
to remove the next time, try coating the shaft with anti-seize compound
before installing the impeller. This applies whether a splined, pinned or
keyed configuration. We masochists who race aluminum-engined cars use the
stuff by the bucketful, and it works. Steel bolts/studs in aluminum blocks
will rapidly corrode into an irremovable knot without it.
