Hi Gary,

While I am not in Key West (I wish!) here are two sites where I put up
pictures and layouts of the current Marine Trader line for someone else on
the list.

Which MT model are you interested in? The Double Cabin, the Sedan or the
Sundeck? One thing to beware of any Marine Trader specs is that since the
early boats are all essentially hand-built, the specs may vary from one
another. There are also numerous 'one offs' and 'odd balls'. Be on the
lookout for a MT 34' Pilothouse version which I have personally seen. It was
very cute. There was/is also a 49' Pilothouse and a 50' Double Decker that is
not listed.

For a liveaboard, I would go up a few feet. My 34' is fine for weekends and
even a summer vacation, but permanent liveaboard would be trying. Not that
you don't have enough living space, but you don't have enough storage space.

My recommendation for an inexpensive liveaboard MT would be the 36' Sundeck
model. I have been aboard several and they are IMMENSE inside. They also have
no teak outside which would be a plus in your climate (I'm jealous!). They
have a full aft cabin which is covered by a shaded deck. They appear both
inside and outside to much larger than their 36' would suggest and strangely
larger than their Sedan or Double Cabin twins. The only drawback is that they
don't look like a traditional "Trawler Yacht", they look more like a "Motor
Yacht".

"Not that there is anything wrong with that!"

Best Regards,
Al Johnson
