First: Thanks very much for the "Firsts" series ... well written, humorous, interesting and imformative ... I look forward to more of them.
Second: on the Qeaver Davits ... Weaver makes their own equivalent product called the "Weaver Leaver" (http://www.weaverindustries.com/), so they ought to have an opinion on your question ... particularly since it relates directly to their own mounting instructions.
