Rick's right. Weight's the way to go. Some BBQ's actually sit the tank on a
crude balance scale with a pointer to indicate fill level. I suppose you
could rig up something similar on a boat, but the easiest solution is two 20
lb two tanks connected by a manifold. When one hits empty, simply switch to
the other and re-fill the first at the next opportunity. Of course, if you
forget to re-fill...
