Whether a gazillion or bazillion tons (not sure which is more) I don't think
weight (of the boats had anything directly to do with it. Weight, of the
boat(s), in and of itself has nothing to do with dragging an anchor (IMHO).
You are not trying to hold the boat on an incline. Gravity is not acting on
the mass and trying to pull it down to the bottom of the hill. I believe
the factors that cause dragging are windage (resistance to the wind) and
draft (resistance to current). Wind and/or current are providing the
force(s) that the anchor's hold (resistance) in/on/to the bottom must
overcome. It seems the only time that mass would enter into the equation is
when the boat is surging against the anchor and the rode snaps tight, at
that point the anchor must resist the inertia of the moving boat along with
the other forces.

My two cents on the whole thing after years of discussion at anchor with an
old friend on the matter.
