If you can stand one more comment:

Be very careful and make sure you know your engine and its preheat/starting
system.

An example:
My (non-marine) Cummins in my Dodge truck does not have/use any sort of
cylinder "glow plug". Rather it preheats the air charge in the intake with
two very powerful electric heaters actually located in the intake manifold.
This is a nice system, works very well, and is easy to service.

BUT:

The result of spraying any volatiles into the intake would be immediate
ignition/explosion in the intake.
