A friend of mine that runs a charter business in the USVI tells me that an
'old trick' he uses to bypass this procedure is to spray WD-40 into the air
intake while cranking - says it works every time! Does anyone out there know
if this will cause a larger problem in the long run? I tried it once & it
worked like a charm!

"2) If air is somehow introduced into the injector lines, each of the
clamping nuts needs to be cracked in turn and the engine cranked until fuel
seeps out of each. Since a diesel can run on only a few cylinders, it's
possible to purge air from only 3 or 4 of the injector lines, start the
engine, and let the rest purge themselves through the cylinders which will
happen very quickly."
