East Penn (Deka) now builds all of the West Marine batteries.

East Penn is the original manufacturer of Gell Cells in the USA, so
their AGM should be pretty good.

You can read about East Penn in the new West Marine catalog.

They have lots of experience in heavy industrial batteries.

Their Golf Cart batteries are one of the best available unless
you can afford Rolls/Surrette.

It stands to reason that if a respected company like West Marine
is marketing East Penn the batteries have a good record.

Try an East Penn or Deka dealer near you, as you should
be able to get a better price on the same battery
without the marine label on it. Do take into consideration
that West is picking-up an extended warranty and this
is added value that most battery dealers do not offer.
This warranty could be worth the extra cost.
