    CCC,

    I used to tie mine with a piece of 100# monofilament to the dock cleat to 1.
    take the pressure off the wire and 2. secure it. Sometimes the motion of
    the boat in the slip would cause the alligator clip to come off the boat.
    I'll bet that's what you saw, but you never know what saleboters will do.
    They shouldn't attach the fish anode to the boat, attach it to the dock and
    only the clip to the boat. That way when they forget to release it, the clip
    just pops off. Having it dangling off the stern......well, like, you know?
