    Yes, I have an Interphase unit on my boat. I have it set up with
    a split screen so half of the screen shows the bottom straight
    down, and the other half scans forward. The forward scanning
    does pretty well as long I'm in fairly clean water and going slowly.
    Up here on the Tennessee river, where the water is not always
    so clear, I get some reflections from the dirt in the water when
    scanning forward. This can even be a problem when scanning
    straight down, but more of a problem on forward scan. If you
    are cruising in clean ocean water, a forward scanning sonar is
    definitely a worthwhile addition.
