I am rebuilding my 44' Steel 1959 Phillip Rhodes Motor-Sailor. The main
water tanks (175 Gallons capacity) are sheet metal Monel and appear to be
    brazed or soldered joints.

Despite being over 40 years old the tanks are in excellent condition . . .
no signs of corrosion at all.

Does anybody know about this material . . . should I be able to continue to
use these as potable water tanks, or am I going to die of some heavy metal
    malady.

P.S. My boat has another "reserve" tank that holds 170 gallons. You got to
love a boat with 170 "reserve" gallons of water!

    Thanks,

    Daniel Meyer

    less rusty)
