Anyone have a recommendation for a good knife.
    >>

I have nice 4" stainless Gerber. Hangs from my PFD light in a plastic sheath
by it's spring steel clip. Blade is smooth on one side, serrated on the
other. It is heavy enough to use as a pry tool as well as a knife.

Wife uses a 3" stainless Rogue Explorer with a heavily serrated flolding
    blade.

Boat knife is a 8" stainless diver's knife. Usually sheathed, but we take it
out when underway or at night. (especially since that the mace is somewhere
    in Canada)
