We came across on Jan 2/01 and the water was thinnest at the lock channels. We draw 4ft 4in and had no trouble. We took the direct route, beam sea, 4ft waves, I wouldn't recomend this method. The rim route was closed, or so we heard and all the locks except Franklin were on a 2 hr schedule. Franklin was on 4 hr openings and there was talk of it going to twice daily.
