    I hear you, but the reality is that, on a powerboat and near-shore, I have
    never-ever seen anyone do that. In fact the idea of being dragged along
    behind a power boat at 8 kts until somebody noticed, isn't very attractive.

    If you look at all of the stories of voyages through Panama which I consider
    offshore, nobody ties on to the boat, even in rough weather.

    Now offshore voyaging, as in across the ocean with one person on watch and
    everyone asleep, maybe that's different. I certainly understand it on a
    sailboat where the decks are far more dangerous and a lot of stuff can get
    you. That's a question I would ask Kessler and those types but I bet they
    did not tie on to the boat.
