The only problem may be that with a 8D the positive and negative
terminals are at the same end of the battery but when you make up a 12
volt out of 2 6 volt batteries in series the terminals are no longer at
the same end of the battery box. If your original wiring was set up for
8Ds then you may have to extend either the positive of negative wire to
now enter the other end of the battery box. This may require as much as
2 to 3 extra feet of cable to make a neat installation. Heavy wiring
will be required if these batteries are attached to an inverter or are
used as starting batteries.
