    I used to have a Volvo 760 Turbo that would turn over as high as 30,000 RPM.
    (Man, would that car move out.) The owner's manual "suggested" that the
    engine be allowed to idle for a minute after start-up, and another minute or
    more prior to shutting down. Strange how long that minute can seem. So, of
    course, I rarely followed the "suggestion".

    Consequence: $2,500 for a new turbocharger after 4 years of use.

    I often travel by turbo-charged helicopter and seaplanes. The pilots ALWAYS
    take that minute before and after, and I must be one of the few passengers
    who learned why the hard way.
