    > And NOW, the question is raised !!!! Just last week at the Ft Lauderdale
Boat Show, we bought a pair of Canon 10 X 30 IS binoculars. I went through
the process of deciding how much power was "enough", and considering the
size boat we are using the glasses on. We have a pair of 7 X 50 Fujinon
glasses with built-in compass, and have used them for about 8 years. On our
boat (48'), and the slowly increasing tremor that seems to come with age,
Mollie and I decided that it was time for stabilized glasses. ( I am getting
    the tremor NOT Mollie !!)

Our decision was based on our intended use, to read buoy and day mark
numbers and transom names (to identify wakers ?) etc. The Fujinon model was
great, but the downside seems to us to be the bulk and weight, whereas the
Canon is easily held and have the right "balance and feel" without being too
bulky or heavy for frequent use. The increased power does not seem to
translate into "better" for our platform.

Since we have only had them for a week, I will be happy to give a follow-up
after a "shake down cruise" in the near future if any one is interested.
