TWL: FCC license?

The USCG documentation has showed the same FCC call sign for the past
3 owners of my boat. Since they didn't automatically cancel it when
ownership changed, does that mean the call sign and license survives
transfer of ownership?

If not, I'll be installing an SSB in the fall, so what do I need to
do to be legal?
