    The FCC recycles call signs when a license lapses. With the demise of VHF
    licenses, I suspect that your call sign now belongs to someone else. It
    happened to me. SSB would require a new filing anyway, but it is unlikely
    that the vessel's call sign is still linked to your vessel. Of course, this
    happened to me when the only person in West Virginia who could operate the
    FCC database had retired. It's probably a contractor now.
