    Hi Rich and All,

Rich, after reading your post, it reminded me that some time ago I started to
write a post to say that Life Slings are great ... assuming that the bitter
end is tied securely to the boat and the crew knows how to properly use it. I
have seen many, many boats that did not have the rope tied to the boat. If
the Life Sling was thrown to somebody, the rope would play out as intended,
then fall freely into the water. The Life Sling then becomes more useless
than the old ring bouy, because the floating rope becomes a liability instead
of a lifesaving innovation as the rope could easily foul the wheel(s) while
    maneuvering to approach the MOB.
