      Gentlemen;

I am new to the list serve and arrived just in time to catch your
experts discussion on laptops and navigation. Thought it would be a
good time to hopefully get a few of my pressing questions answered,
given the concentration of expertise on the topic.

Some Background: I have ordered a NordicTug 37' with a delivery date
of April, 2001. I am now wrestingly with the electronic
specifications, which as you all know better than I is a rapidly
moving target. We are planning to do the Great Loop in Spring 2001,
after getting familiar with the boat over the winter in Florida.

I do wish to have access to electronic navigation, as I believe it
can relief the drudgery of navigation, especially for long treks with
only two people. I am a long time MAC user, currently have two
MAC-2000 laptops that have all the harware attributes previously
listed, and no MS operating system. As far as I know, using a MAC
will limit my choice of software to MAXSEA? My questions are:

    1) Will MAXSEA do the job?, possibly short of direct interfacing with
    the autopilot.

    2) Where in the helm station (lower only in this case), should the
    lap top ideally be located?

    3) Has anyone come across a good adjustable laptop mount that will
permit secure movement of the laptop for optimum use and viewing, a
swell as stowage when not in use? Helm stations are already so
cluttered with navigation/communication and controls, etc, it seems
that an adjustable arm would provide a better mount solution then a
    sub-optimal fixed location?

    Thanks for your insights.
