    Glad to see Alex taking over responsibility for the scientific method from
    Wil Andrews. Let's hope true facts don't overly stifle the conjecture that
    makes this List so interesting and enjoyable.

    Here's a subsidiary question:

    When about to purchase diesel, would it be useful to have a quart or so
    pumped into a clean, clear glass jar first? Could one actually see any
    contamination, be it water or microbiological organisms, and thereby avoid
    an unnecessary problem?
