Jerry,
A Nordic Tug is a FAST trawler. I didn't appreciate the difference between
an 8-9 knot boat vs cruising at 13.5 knots when we bought our Nordic, but
find that is a major delight after using our new boat this year. On a recent
280 mile jaunt across the lake to the Trawler Fest we averaged 12.9 kts,
burned 6.8 GPH and got 1.9 MPG. We arrived in port several hours ahead of
the slow trawlers and many hours ahead of the sailboats (all of whom
motored). Yes, I know we could have saved fuel, relaxed, arrived a little
later, but open water travel is bloody boring in my opinion. That's why I
sold the sailboat.
Our experience this summer on Lake Michigan convinced us we made a good
decision. We love her looks, her quality, her ability to go under most
bridges. She doesn't roll much, doesn't need stabilizers. We don't miss a
fly bridge. She makes us smile every time we come down the dock.
I'll try to think of some bad things if you really insist.
