In reference to H.O. 211. Any method, regardless of the Ho - Hc intercept
you come up with, using either your DR or an AP should give you the same
line of position.

H.O. 211 is refered to as a "short method" not because the method is
shorter, but the tables are shorter. H.O. 211 is just a slim volume, where
as H.O. 214 is takes 9 rather large volumes to cover the globe.

I have heard people say that a method that uses DR instead of AP is more
accurate. This is not true. The reason for the AP is so that you can have
"Tables of Computed Altitude and Az" such as H.O. 249, 229, and 214, rather
than computing the Hc and Az yourself.
