This is always the difficulty in trying to set realistic problems for
others to solve: terminology. When you are doing it "for real", you
know what "it" is that you want to know even if you don't know the
name for "it". Dan & co. have done a great job in setting problems
based on their own exprience. The rest of us, as armchair sailors,
need to think a little more clearly about the problem to be solved
(and what definition *really* applies) and to document our assumptions
and methods and calculations in our answers. It's a bit more work,
but a lot more instructive for everyone involved.
