Subject: [Nml] Silicon Sea II: Leg 46, Planning to Depart Sydney
From: Dan Hogan (dhhogan@XXX.XXX)
Date: Wed Feb 03 1999 - 09:42:11 EST
All: During our extended layover at Sydney Harbor
the skipper came into some un-explained money. He
promptly spent it on a new boat. Silicon Sea II
is a cutter rigged Van De Stadt 48' boat built in
Sydney, Australia. Applicable details will be
found listed in the "NOTE:" section at the bottom
of each problem page. The on board crew for
planning purposes will be listed as eight.
In practical small boat navigation accuracy to
the nearest minute of
arc or to one decimal place is MORE than needed.
Answers are given
greater detail than this because they are
generated by computer.
As usual, this is a navigation excersize, not a
simulation. Data is
obtained from USDMA Pilot Charts Pub 107,
1981,Ed.; Ocean
Passages for the World, 1973 Ed.; Jimmy Cornell's
World Cruising
Routes, 1995 Ed.; National Geographic Atlas of
the World, Revised
Sixth Edition, and what data is available within
the Working Group or
via the Internet.
