    I'm not sure. I can see that displacing the zero position of the sextant to be on the working part of the arc, by misaligning the
    adjustments of the mirrors, might work, depending on the range of adjustment that was available. I doubt that would work, with the
    instrument that I tried, because its blank-area was so wide. Does Frank have a cleverer method, that would work with a Vernier
    instrument?
