It is confusing, but there are two Plath sextants with similar names. The "Navistar Professional" was made as a low cost alternative with 75 fewer parts using alumium and lots of plastic. It has a very modern look, a billet aluminum frame, plastic filters that rotate and store under the mirrors, and is housed in a plastic case with plastic liner. It is easy to break the liner. It is not a good sextant being difficult to use and to adjust IC. Average price $450.00 - $500.00.
The other is the "Navistar Classic" which is a tricked up bronze frame "Classic", but with a sexy micrometer drum and Navistar imprint. This sextant was made in limited numbers as the top of the Plath line. They are very scarce, highly desireable and correspondingly pricey. You will not find much about them. Today's price around $1700.00
I have a never used NAVISTAR Classic for sale.
