    Speaking of Change and Other Misfortunes (a subject title I was tempted to
    use):

    Since first proposing the possibility of use of an online electronic
    whiteboard to answer the oft-repeated plaint here that the discussion of nav
    topics could be usefully improved by being able to gather around a
    blackboard and in concert work through formulae, diagrams, etc;

    and occasional updates of how this already existing facility makes slow
    progress in awareness and use, mainly in educational settings;

    further evidence of this came to my attention recently, when a student
    posted on a university discussion site:
    "We also found it very useful to discuss answers over the internet through
    MSN.. as we have a whiteboard marker feature that can be used to facilitate
    how to solve a given problem."

    Prompting a member of the teaching staff to respond:
    "I have made available the whiteboard tool on the home page of this site. If
    you ever need to do some maths over the phone with another student ( because
    you cannot meet in person), you may find using the whiteboard tool helpful
    because the two of you can write to each other on the whitebaord. That way
    you can see what the other person is saying - if you get my drift."

    These are quoted with permission, of course: " Hey yeh i dont mind. Anything
    that helps. =)"

    Thanks Pamela.
