While we are discussing this, I am selling two of my sextants. The H. Hughes & Son is a very good but older instrument. The only thing wrong with it is the size of the mirrors. By today's standard they are somewhat small. It is a very usable sextant and ready to go. I would like to sell this one for 330 dollars.
The Freiberger I am selling was my favored instrument and it looks and works like new. I am the only owner and bought it when I was in Germany after a trans-Atlantic sail. The outside of the box has some stains but everything looks and works great. This is really a great sextant if you want to go with a metal frame. As you probably know this model is still in production and all parts are available for it. I want to sell this one for 475 dollars.
I now use a Cassens & Plath and can't afford to have all these other sextants sitting on the shelf. E-mail me at robert_gainer at fisheriestrust.org if you want any information on either of these.
Thanks and all the best,
Robert Gainer
