Any opinions on these? I think they're rather neat, but is there a downside?
If you haven't seen them, the idea is to use crossed polarizing filters
which can be rotated to produce any desired amount of darkening (within a certain
range) instead of the standard sextant shades. The earliest sextants with
polarizing filters apparently date from the Second World War. Is that right?
