That's funny. Literally two days ago, a friend of mine asked if I could
teach him celestial navigation and how long it would take. I told him "anywhere
from six hours to six months". It all depends on what you hope to get out of
it. The basic position finding aboard London's Snark (?) appears to have
involved getting latitude *and* longitude by Noon Sun sights and other meridian
sights of stars for latitude. That could be taught and learned in a few days...
