Actually this is a citation from Maskelyne.
I have no experience of my own in measuring altitudes above the
natural horizon: unfortunately the horizon is not vizible
from my observation point:-(
So I can only speculate on this.
I read in many places that measuring altitudes close to 90
is extremally hard, and I was trying to find a theoretical
reason for this. After having posted the message
"Altitudes close to 90"
I noticed that my explanation was incorrect, and immediately
recognized this in my next posting.
