Analysis of recreatonal boat grounding incidents?

    It would be useful to systematically analyze recreational boat grounding
    incidents. I don't know if anyone collects such data with a view to
    prevention by better navigation. It would be one way of finding out whether
    boaters in our type of setting (coastal piloting) would benefit from more
    rigorous piloting practices and skill. I have no idea how that would be
    done, though. Is there be any navigation literature where such studies are
    published?
