Re Derek Howse's book "Nevil Maskelyne, the seaman's astronomer". Cambridge
University Press, 1989.
This book is VERY hard to come by, and I have had it on a wants-list with
Abebooks for over a year now.
A copy turned up (in the UK) a few weekss ago, at a very reasonable price,
which I snapped up.
Now another copy has shown up, at another UK bookshop, one that I visit
from time to mime and which have found to be very recommendable. Details
below. Unfortunately, it's about twice the price I had to pay, but still
far less than the silly prices I saw being asked for it in the US a couple
of years ago. In view of the scarcity of this book, some list-members may
consider it a worthwhile buy. It's up to you.
George.
