Dan Allen kindly replied, when I apologised for recommending a book about a
winter in an observation station in the Canadian North, as being off the
topic of Navigation-

Yes, Dan, but I don't think many of us will be motivated to see this one,
let alone spend a Winter there. I forgot to say that Lake Hazen is near the
North end of Ellesmere Island, at a latitude of over 81deg North, about as
far North as you can get even in Canada.
And the title "Does anyone read Lake Hazen?" refers to the failure of their
radio communication over several Winter months, which put them back into
the age of the Polar travellers of a century ago.
