Looks an awful lot like a Tamaya, at least from this one photo.
The seller says it is a "MAC-RLV April 1976 ... Made by Measure-all Inc.
From Japan"
His grandfather bought it for his construction company.
Was this a Tamaya knock-off?
Was it made by Tamaya for Measure-all?
With perhaps a different scope for land-based surveying use?
Is it less salt-water rugged?
I found a "Measure-All", located in Ohio, with a website
(measure-all.com) I have no way of knowing if they are
the same company.
"Your Source For Precision Measuring Equipment"
"Measure-All, Inc.has specialized in the area of gaging
and inspection equipment for over 20 years"
[but did they also do surveying equipment before then?]
"Measure-All can usually find a standard product
(that might require slight modification) to solve the
gaging requirement."
[Would they have sold a Tamaya sextant under their own name?]
I have contacted both the seller and Measure-All, but
(unsurprisingly) have not had a response yet. I thought some
of the members here in particular might know a thing or two
about the history of Tamaya in the 70's.
