    Let's all lighten up.

A signature is kind of like a T shirt.

Maybe nobody cares that I am a ham or a high school math teacher,
or that I run Debian/GNU/Linux, but I kind of like to stick it
on my e-mails to let people know. Maybe they are a ham too? Or
maybe they like or teach math.

I don't know. I kind of think of it as an introduction at a party
when you meet someone new or the host asks everyone to introduce
themselves. When I meet someone new or they meet me, almost always
they will say, "Well what do you do?" and I say "I am a high school
math teacher, what about you?" Or if I know they are into boats I ask
about navigation, or if they were in the navy, and so on.

It seems to me what runs through the list is an interest in
history, naval history in particular, navigation and the history
of navigation, celestial in particular, and mathematics as it relates
to navigation and its practice; nautical instruments, like sextants and
so on. Moreover, by the fact that we are using the internet, computers
and maybe programming for some of us.

I really don't think that religion, or political parties, who you voted
for or didn't or if you are rich or of modest means or even what country
you are from really matters. Not all the topics interest me, but so
what. I have run a couple of topics by and got no response so I let
    it drop. No big deal.

However, I would like to say, that something in a signature or
else where may color what you have to say in some peoples minds,
    leaving an unintended consequence.

    My $.02 worth.
