Caveat emptor, Frank. I called DeLorme to tell them about a couple of local mistakes, roads that didn't exist, were never built, or had been demapped 20+ years ago and physically were cut off. They said thank you--but ten years later, posted no changes.
I've been told that their errors are *intentional* and this is an old cartographer's tradition, to make and keep minor mistakes so that if someone else simply copies the map--the proof of the copying is that those terribly unlikely errors get copies with it.
Not as bad the as Russians relocating entire cities during the cold war...but still, I think unacceptable. A guy could literally get killed trying to follow some roads the DeLorme has mapped--over a cliff.
