    Haversines and related problems were usually explained in Norie's Nautical
    Tables (I say were because I own an old edition dated 1961). If anyone is
    interested and is not able to find something on the argument, let me know:
    as a personal opinion, I consider the haversine the best traditional method
    of sight reduction, much more straightforward than other so called "short
    methods" (but, as I said before, this is a personal point of view since I
    like doing calculations manually better than reading the solution of the
    spherical triangle on a table.....).
