Re: Allegiances.

I subscribe to ten or fifteen lists, all dealing with sailing or navigation. Virtually every one of the lists is having the same kind problem.

This is most likely because the state of world politics today is pushing itself to the front of everyones thinking.

I'm am personally pleased to discover that George is an esteemed member of BAWA.

It also pleases me to know that Mr Hawkins involves himself in organizations that align themselves with my thinking.

These things make the people I correspond with multi dimensional personalities.

So. There are two people I would like to hear from on this matter: George, who I suspect was trying to unload something from his mind that troubles him greatly, on a bunch of folks he counts as friends (including Mr. Hawkins).

...and Mr. Hogan who might tell all of us to lighten up.

receive
lots of e-mail from various sources and with the usual mish mash of
formula
signature appendages. The allegiances appended to Mr. Harkins' e-mail
have
not distracted me one iota from the topic at hand: navigation. Nor have
they
caused me any offence. To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Harkin has never
attempted to force these topics upon us in any of his messages: all of his
messages have been about navigation.

I see no difference between that, and a person who signs his or her name
with "PhD" or "P.Eng". or with an university or professional affiliation.

Much ado about nothing I'd say. Please, let us restrict our nit picking to
matters of navigation and not about how the list members choose to sign
their names.
