My father-in-law was a navigator during WWII. He the first aboard his ship,
and was one of the first period, to use Ageton. He purchased the book with
his own money and started using it. His captain thought that it was nice to
have another system to backup whatever they used normally aboard ship (I'm
not sure what that was). Just before he died he gave me all of his books
including Bowditch, Ageton and others. I don't use them but they occupy a
place of honor on my fireplace mantle.
