I don't have an honest to God copy of Ageton, but I've worked sights
with the reproduction of his HO 211 table in Bowditch.

The sight reduction begins by adding A of t and B of declination. The
sum is A of R. In the HO 211 method you use A of R and B of R, but the
value of R itself is never used.

I've read that in his 1942 work Ageton used a different method for
azimuth, so I assume that's why you need R.
