I think the consensus on the Davis sextants--any of them--is that with due care they can provide a useable position fix, and that no sextant can compete with them for price. So, if price is the criteria...Davis is the best sextant for that price. Then the Aries/Astra, then whatever better used sextants as the price ramps higher.
