I suggest that you subscribe to the Canadian Coast Guard's "Marine-L"
discussion forum. Professional seafarers from all over the world participate
in the various discussions.
For the past few years, ISM has been a hot topic; some old timers absolutely
despise ISM, including and especially a professional master mariner from
Belgium who is a regular contributor to the forum. He contends that it just
means more paperwork and not a bit of added safety. Some of his comments are
quite caustic though humorous.
I can't exactly remember the mechanics of how to subscribe to the list but I
believe that it goes something like this:
e-mail the following address:
LISTSERVER@XXX.XXX
In the body of the mail, type in "Subscribe" followed by your name.
Failing this, go into the Canadian Coast Guard website and search for
instructions on how to subscribe. I am still on the list but have been for
years so I am embarrassed to say that I cannot remember how I subscribed!
Hope this helps.
