I spent many hours using the Astrocompass Mk 2. It served two main purposes:
1. To determine the heading of the aircraft
2. To take true bearings of points on the ground. The reverse of the
bearings were plotted as position lines. These position lines could be
transferred to fix the position of the aircraft.
