This is closer to what I was thinking about. I downloaded most of
DE405 today (45 MB worth) but the Fortran 77 compiler I found does
not work as it should on Mac OS X.
However I am looking to see how good of a table version could be
created and still have reasonable accuracy. The tables may be
generated by polynomial series, but I'd like to do more analysis
about errors to see if a long-term almanac could be created in say,
five pages or so.
